Got the SSL-7, based on the fact that on the review by rhmcfarland from around June ( from : localhost//forum/s...ad.php?t=43491)
Dropped it into a 2005 HWY1 Strat with rosewood, in the bridge position. Boy, this thing rocks!
I was after a nice fattish tone, with some snarl, and no piercing highs. But still with some strat personality. My mex strat, which has a lil '59b is a super player, but i found that i was using the bridge-only position very little, mainly because the treble is a bit too powerful in my particular setup. (i have a bright amp) I also think that a strat's bridge pup position is rather far back (towards saddles) Any average pickup is going to have problems sampling bass there? Anywhoo...
The SSL-7 holds back on those highs, and is fat (for a bridge), and has a fairly serious output. This could be due to the staggered poles, retarding Mr B string a bit.
Bottom line - Superb strat bridge, big, full, strong-bass, solid output, tight. Height adjustment makes vast shaping possible. Highly recommended. P-90 like. Mine's non-tappable version. Thanks seymour
