I heard that this is a legendary pedal that Boss isn't producing anymore, but it should be good at creating some cool metal tones if you tweak it right. Can anyone in here tell me if it's true that it's so good, and if possible, does anyone have any sound clips with it?

Thanks

I don't have any sound clips, but it has been my main distortion pedal since i traded a forum bro for it.

It is great at producing a variety of Metal Tones, some people prefer it to the Metal Zone, I think the Metal Zone has a more quot;modernquot; somewhat compressed tone that I like just as well as the HM-2

the HM-2 is a great pedal, but I would go with the Metal Zone just as easily.

ROck ON!

Well, I read that you can almost get like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath tones etc. out of it. Can you get those tones out of it?

With the right guitar and amp you definetly could!

Thanks for your answers. Do you know what the price for a used HM-2 pedal usually is? I guess it's impossible to find any new ones.

Yeah since they're not in production a new one would be hard.
For one in good condition you could probably find 'em for $50-$70

try the UK one, HM-2's turn up all the time! expect to pay about what you would for a new DS-1, max..

and it didnt really float my boat - i owned the MZ-2 (now THAT is a cool pedal ) and HM-2 at the same time, now i use an SD-1/DS-1 combo. the HM-2 always had a slight trebly edge to it, it definitley sounded recognisably solid state (you might like it, i preferred the MZ-2..)

if you running out of options, shoot me a PM - a mate of mine has followed me onto DS-1s, i dunno what he's doing with his HM2 yet hehe - i modded it for him, but i can reverse that real easy..

You say quot;try the UK onequot;, but what do you mean? the UK what? a shop?
I am a newbie and I've never had a pedal before, and I thought since I want to play some heavy metal stuff, I might try this pedal out as it shouldn't be that expensive.

the UK ebay - they do turn up often IIRC which country are you in?

I live in Denmark, and I haven't found any here yet. I can't click those ebay links, my computer freezes up everytime I'm on ebay

I have my old HM-2 still... In 1987 or 88 i walked into a Toronto Music store called Steve's Music and bought a Kramer and a Boss HM-2. The HM2 for the time had a great EQ section on it.... The low freq's were what gave it the heavy metal sound i think. I don't use it much anymore but i still hang onto it. It is a good pedal thru some amps and thru others it is just OK.

Yeah, that's the general opinion of it, it seems. But if it could get me that old school metal tone, then it would be badass.
