My strat copy has an angled humbucker cutout, where the low E-end is slightly closer to the neck than the high end (Basically, it's the same angle that you see on the bridge single coil of a strat). How does this affect the sound (I'm guessing it's to make the low strings sound a little less bridgey) and will it give me any compatibility issues if I replace the humbucker with an SD?

According to the guys on here, it's supposed to help align the pole pieces of a standard-sized bucker with a trem-spaced bridge. Apparently EVH was one of the pioneers of the angled bucker.

I am under the impression EVH installed it like that because the original single coil was installed like that. The poles lining up better is just an added bonus.

Plus, it looks cool, too

Just don´t do it with a trembucker, because then the poles will be TOO wide.

Then again, that´s not necessarily a bad thing......
