For my guitar building project I was thinking about a one pickup soloist, with TOM. Of course that'd limit me for clean tones so maybe a piezo would work well? For the pup I'm very tempted about the DiMarzio dropsonic, and both coils will be selectable. It will only have a volume control and the piezo will just keep its standard controls. I was thinking about this one?
from : localhost/but they don't have black
The guitar will be a maple/ebony neckthru with Mahogany wings.
The piezo may be a bit expensive. In this case do you guys know of any low profile (to maybe not have to angle the neck down) TOM or wraparound bridges? Right now I have a non recessed Floyd and while I like the feel of it, angling a neck thru guitar neck may be a little hard for a first timer.
Maybe this TOM? from : localhost/store.guitarfetish.com/blviabstbrwi.html? Though the inserts seem not to be delivered with it...
Oh and I'm leaving in a few hours to Edinburgh where I'll be Internet less for a bit. I may try and go to an Internet cofee sometimes and pay a visit here. So yeah if you have any suggestions do it fast haha! It'll be hard to live a month without the Internet So I say goodbye here just in case noone replies before I leave hehe...

Bump...
Or I could route the body for a recessed Floyd, grab a Jackson JT580LP in black or chrome for cheap, and eliminate the need for an angled neck. Would the JT580LP work well with a 10/16 compound radius you guys think? I don't know the bridge radius but I assume it's 10quot; like other Floyds... And I hope it won't ruin sustain, though with a Dropsonic and a maple/ebony neck thru with Mahogany wings, I'll probably have sustain to spare.

Answer before I leave pleaaaase
If you can

Have you thought about a Fishman system instead of the TOM? They make a system that uses bullet-style saddles (like a Strat or Tele) and you could then switch between that and a normal pickup.

I have a piezo bridge pickup (fishman) in my (cheap korean) parker. They are pretty good combined with magnetic pickups for clean, but are pretty weak and thin sounding on their own i find. Good for chords, bad for leads/

Also, they can sound good distorted

Keep in mind Fishman use a cheaper system in the cheaper Parkers. The high end Parkers have the real nice Fishman systems.

I'd go with the Fishman Powerbridge if I were going with a hardtail design. It's a good bridge with a good sound and you won't need to angle the neck.

Yeah, i'll do that. I also finalised the design:

Tele shape
26.5quot; scale
a single humer (Invader, FullShred, DropSonic or Hotrails Tele)
all black, ebony board without inlays
It'll be called the Black widow and I'll try and get a red pickup

And you all have a big hello from Edinbugh! I still don't have my own Internet and I miss this place

Look at the RMC system it has the best sound of any piezo i have tried.
