My daughter has a B.C. Rich Bronze Mockingbird. The tuners are sealed B.C. Rich and are so so. I want to upgrade them for her for Christmas.
Which tuners should I replace them with, Schaller, Gotoh, Grover, or some other?
Thanks
Sperzels? really stable.
I personally favor Schallers and Grovers, but I just picked up a Tele last Friday that had Sperzels installed, and I gotta say there is something about the ease of their use. Not sure they're better yet, but they ARE good!
I love Sperzels, I've put them on all of my electrics.
I have sperzels on my #1 Strat and they work great. My Music Man Silhouette has Schallers and i like those a bit more because they feel smoother and the lock wheel grips easier.
Don't get the Gotoh ones, chances are you already have those on there, but with another brandname on it . They're on my Jackson DK-2 as well, but carry the Jackson-brand. I'm absolutely certain they're Gotoh's though, as they're 100% identical to the ones carrying the Gotoh-brand that are on my Ibanez (stock) and Squier (retrofit, bought secondhand).
My ESP Eclipse has Sperzels on it and I'm really liking them.
A) No bother figuring out how many wraps you need
B) Stay in tune really well.
ANother plug for the sperzels.. but if you´re just looking for a general good upgrade Gotohs should be a drop in replacement, at about 1/3 the price
Grover locking tuners. They're really handy. Instead of cranking a thumbscew to lock 'em, you just thread the string through and they tighten up as you bring them up to pitch. I like them better than Sperzels, and you can get them for around $40 bucks a set if you look around, like this.

Jackson Imports don´t use the original Gotoh Hardware (save T-O-M Bridges) but use a cheaper, slightly lower quality alternative manufactured IIRC by Takeuchi... The problem is that you can´t really see the quality difference until you take them apart or use them for a longer period...
The USA Jackson Tuners (real Gotohs)are generall Gotoh raised logo AND Jackson Silkscreen
Thanks all I think I will go with the Gotoh tuners and see where that takes her, I am also so drop[ping a SD Hotrod set into this guitar to get rid of the cheap pu's in it.
I've had quite good experiences with Gotoh so far.

Z are you talking about Gotoh SG38's from : localhost/www.warmoth.com/hardware/tune...=guitar_tuners??
I love Sperzel Trimlocks. They are very stable and make strings changes a snap.

Any Jackson is an import here
But I get the idea. Thanks, always thought they were real Gotoh's. Works just as well so far (4 years).

Even though you're going Gotoh, I'm going to add one more vote for Sperzels. I have them on my Brian Moore and I love them!
