whats up guys, I am a new member with a question that I have not been able to find an answer for so here goes. I have a PRS Custom 22 with the 5 way rotary switch and I just installed a SH-14 in the bridge and an SH-2 in the neck. I flipped the magnet and wired it according to the info on the website. My question is, is all the info on the website for one and one PRS pickup or two Duncans? If you have any info on how to wire the two duncans I have in the guitar right now it would be a BIG help. Thanks
welcome to the forum
cant answer directly about the info on the website being for 2 SDs or 1 SD and 1 PRS ...
sounds like you did everything right ... did you do the 'tap' test to determine if it is coming out correctly? ... that's gonna be your best first indicator ...
i do not know the pinouts of the PRS rotary switch, so i am not sure how you have to attach wires to it .. but as long as the result is the same as reversing the wind of one of the two SD pups, you should be good
also, there is a post in the vault about this .. and the birdsandmoons.com guys mightbe able to help too
good luck and let us know how it turns out
cheers

This is just a guess, but it does say quot;. . . for pickupsquot;. I would take the plural to mean two SD's.
But I'm not positive.

Its for two duncans. You can mix and match but you need to completely reverse the the wiring and the mag on one to get everything in phase and humcancelling. Normally flipping the mag in one pickup and using this conversion will get you in fine shape when installing two duncans.
SD Green = PRS Black
SD Black = PRS White
SD Red/White soldered together = PRS Red
SD bare = PRS bare
Architect, is the SD to PRS info you gave me for both pickups or just the one with the magnet flipped?

Both. I know it seems counter intuitive.

This is a very timely subject for me, I just purchased a JB (w/ magnet flipped) and a Jazz neck from Lew, with the intention of installing it in my PRS Custom 22 with the Rotary 5 way switch. Just for giggles and grins, I printed out this thread, the thread linked to above in the quot;quotequot;, AND the schematics from the Duncan website.
My question is: Someone told me the info on the Duncan website is incorrect!!! Does anyone know if this is true??

Just follow the color codes I listed above and you will be fine.
hey guys this is what I got
For the Bridge pickup it's
SD Red/Bare= PRS Black
SD Black/Green= PRS Red
SD White= PRS Black
This wiring for the bridge pickup gave me the best tone results and it also gives you a deep bass tone in the middle position similar to two humbuckers instead of the traditional tapped middle coils. In my opinion this worked better for me.
As for the Neck
SD Green = PRS Black
SD Black = PRS White
SD Red/White soldered together = PRS Red
SD Bare = PRS tone pot
To Architect and the rest of you guys who took the time to help me out thanks a lot

I do get a little hum with the 2nd and 4th position single coil sound but thats it everything else canceled the hum.
the hum is nothing a noise supressor cant take care of.
