I finished my Tele-upgrade project this weekend. Thanks to all who advised me on pickup selection, etc.

It's a MIM Nashville with a Quarter-Pound Tele bridge and a SM-1 Classic Mini neck. The stock Fender Tex-Mex Strat P/U stayed in the middle. Master volume pot, plus a tap/full fader for the QP. The switch is wired middle/b m/bridge/b n/neck.

I haven't had much chance to play it yet, but it sounds great. The balance among the pickups is good. The tapped QP does quot;Telequot; pretty well, and the bridge/middle combination is fairly stratish. Cranking up the tap/full pot gives fat, gonzo QP overdrive.

that sounds like a good combo .. I'm just wondering if you have any phase issues between your mid amp; bridge?

I would definitely like to try a mini hum in tele one day

Regarding the bridge/mid phasing: yes, I had to swap the leads on the middle pickup to match the bridge. Fender was kind of clever when they designed the original harness - the middle pickup had red amp; yellow leads, so you can tell them apart from the neck pickup without pulling off the pickguard to trce them. Originally, red was grounded and yellow was hot. To make it match the Duncans, I grounded the yellow lead, and use red as hot.

I knew this would happen from reading this forum before I wired it up, but foolishly put it back the way it was originally, anyway. The resulting bridge/mid sound was really thin and weak, but 2 minutes with the soldering iron to swap the wires set it right.

congrats - yeah, i bet that's a real tone monster - enjoy!

Hey Rich, Very nice job. It looks very clean. Keep us informed as to how it sounds...

Very nice, Rich-

I love having a strat-ified tele myself. I kinda miss my QP set I used to have-very hot rockers for sure. I switched them out for something different, not because I did not like them.

That mini-hum thing is really nice and lots of folks here have them-seems to be the way to fly. Let us know!!

your gonna love the sm-1 in the neck...since i put that in my main tele i'm hooked on mini hums, it sounds great clean, sounds great with a little gain and even sounds killer with tons of high gain!!

damn, shes a beauty.

Did you reverse the control panel, or is that standard for the Nashville?
A good looking axe either way...

I swapped the control plate - I like having the volume control right there.

Killer axe, Rich.

I love it when a plan comes together.
Congrats!
