hi guys,
i have a Ibanez RG 370DX guitar, basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
i want to change my bridge pup and i need suggestions for a good one.
i play mostly megadeth, metallica, pantera, dream theater. i have a pod xt.
i want the pickup to be sharp, hot, and hi-gain.
so what bridge pickup will be good for me? i know dave mustaine of megadeth plays with SD JB, and i think of buying one unless you will suggest me something better..
btw, what do you say about the X2N? will it be too much for me?
btw 2, what is the difference between jb sh-4 and jb tb-4?
so, any recommendations? suggestions?

The difference between the sh-4 and tb-4 is the tb-4 is the trembucker version, and the pole peices are spaced to suit a trem, like a floyd rose type thing. Which you have. Whatever pickup you get, if it has a TB version, that's the one you need to get.

a JB or a DD would be very good for what you play

and if i will get a sh vesrion will it be bad for me?
and what about the x2n? of dimebucker?

If you get the sh the pole pieces on the pickup won't match up under your strings.

so why only the jb has a tb version? why doesnt dimarzio pickups or emg pickups are written in the web as quot;non tremolo pickupquot;? maybe it is not that important?

for SD... i would recommend DD or Dimebucker.

and DM... get the Steve's Special.

An EMG 81 is also great for your style of music.

the pole-spacing is kinda more cosmetic of having the poles line up with the treble strings on a floyd you dont neccesarily need trem-spacing but it, cosmetically, looks better

with Dimarzio i believe they call the pickups quot;F-spacedquot; when the poles are spaced for a floyd

Grab yourself a DD and be done with it.You'll be all set,

I have nothing but good things to say about the Air Zone for metal or classic rock (if you like the Dimarzio feel)

The JB is more quot;middyquot;. Either you love the JB or you hate it, there is no middle of the road with that pickup. People who hate it say it's quot;shrill soundingquot;. Those who like it like the way it cuts and it's brighter tone. The JB works well in some guitars for some styles of music and not so much for others (IMO). Personally, I find it a little shrill for most applications, but your amp and guitar will have a lot to do with that. (Not trying to start a JB war here, this is merely my opinion)

I think the DD will be a little fatter sounding, because you have a Floyd on your guitar you might want to take that into consideration (IMO).

However, you said you wanted something that sounded quot;sharpquot;...The JB is certainly that...like an ice pick.

The DD absolutely its thicker sounding which u need for a floyd rose ibanez

I just put a DD trem spaced in my rg550 which is similar to yours but with maple neck, and I like it in this guitar.

I think you'd prefer the DD based on the bands you listed.

Get the TB version of whatever you get. BTW, Take a look at the Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker. It's made specifically for your type of guitar.

He's right about the pickup too! I always forget about Parallel Axis pickups. The Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker is an excellent suggestion...I second that pickup recommendation.

Duncan Distortion should rule in that.
On a side note: I played a high-end basswood RG with the DiMarzio/Ibz pickups in it and it sounded AMAZING!!! perfect for what you play
