A store close by are getting them in a few weeks time and they are really exited about a few of the models. They are getting the Custom 50 and Studio/Stage MKII. The Custom are supposed to be a quot;Marshall killerquot; but I have heard that quote way to many times.
So have anyone tried any of these? Any comments would be appreciated.
HiWatts are far cleaner sounding that a Marshall, but I love them!
I had an '82 Hiwatt Custom 50 that was an amazing amp.....fat full clean for days!!!
I sold it to acquire the Splawn Quick Rod, which I then sold to acquire my Matchless Clubman......
They thrive on going full bore amp; a Hiwatt going full bore is just way more nut kicking than the neighbors could stand!!!
I assume the ones they're getting are the newer Music-Ground UK or whatever they call themselves version?
From what I've read, the new UK Customs are PTP gems that harken the good old days of Hiwatt.....the Fernandes/U.S.models are still crap.......haven't played any of those, but I would imagine they'd be worth trying out.
Let us know if you try them!!!
They are getting the UK ones. And I sure will let you know, PUCKBOY99! They call me as soon as they get them, and I will be able to try them out for a few days. Somehow they value my opinion...
Nice!!!
How would they feel if you took it on vacation with you............................................... .................................................. .................................................. ....................... to S. Florida??????
Hm, maybe I should try that.
Hahhaha!!!!
Before I sold it, I put some KT88s in it......HOLY CRAP!!!!
That was an amazing tone...And I wasn't using Fanes amp; they say that's the ONLY speaker truly for a Hiwatt !
They are getting some cabs. with the heads, but I have no idea what speakers are used. I am looking forward to this!
Very cool!
I'm still mad at you for not sending that Quick Rod to me. I thought we were tighter than that?
Who the hell invited you into my amp; Strings thread....Jolly's Be-otch?????HAHAHAHAHA....
Hey, Splawn is your new bud....you can just stop by when you ge that jones, lucky bastid!!!
Yeah...but he wants lots of $$ for one of those amps.
Hey PUCKBOY99, I got an idea! I'll bring over a Hiwatt if you can bring me a Splawn! Those amps sounds great on the forum. Now, what do you say?
Hell, as an excuse to go to Norway, I'll drag Scott Splawn himself!

Ok, that sounds like a plan. But make sure you guys bring along an amp as well!
DEAL!!!
BTW...my selling that amp was in no way a reflection of the amp itself. It was all me. GAS got the better of me amp; it was just way more amp than I needed.
The clips that you hear on the Splawn site....OH YEAH, they can do all of that amp; then some!
Yup, they sure sound awesome. Do you know the guys who make them?
A Who Tribute act i know called The Wholigans, have been using UK Hiwatts when on tour in England... I was over there in London in 2003 and saw the new Hiwatts up close. Very nice amps! The Pete Townshend and David Gilmour models are something!!!!! The PT has that Live At Leeds tone!!! It is dirtier and slightly louder then a Custom 100.
Anyways The Wholigans guitaris is based in Florida and iheard from them a few months ago that Music Ground in the UK has made a deal in the USA to sell UK Hiwatts in America.... They are coming!
WhoFan
I had a Hiwatt DR103 a little while back....... i really liked it, but for one, it was sickeningly loud, and i was running it through a marshall 1960A cab, which gave the sound kind of a harsh overdrive tone...... very cool amp either way, very huge sounding
Thanks for all the info, everybody. I will let you know what I think of them as soon as I tried them out.
