....,(sorry,no pics yet),I was originally building myself a Tele. But the munchkin decided he wanted a guitar sooooooo.....
At this point I'm just waiting for some gold hardware to arrive,(tuning keys, ferules, strap buttons and neck bolts),but all the major work has been done.
The neck is a flamed maple fretboard,(22 frets 25.5 scale with a 7.5quot; radius standard Dunlop 6120 frets black side dots),with no inlays in it.Instead I etched a pic of spidey crawling down a wall shooting a web,(originally I was gonna do it in pyrology but I wanted to try this instead),the back of the neck is plain maple,( C shape came out looking a little mottled actually),with his name goldleafed at the top and a pic of Spidey swinging painted about 1/2 way down with a Strat style shape to the stock,(crap-that reminds me I need to make some gold string trees) and a bone nut,(haven't decided if I'm going to Feitenize it yet).
The body is an arched top,(poplar and mahogany-I went with a single mini hum and decided on that wood combo so it wouldn't sound too thin. Also I didn't put in a tone so it'll be a little brighter),with string through body design.
I just put a Duncan designed into it.
The top has a pic of Spidey crawling down a wall between the pick-up and the neck.My son insisted on using this Spiderman decal that he had so I threw a drop shadow under it and did the background using a fuax paint technique that I tightened up with my airbrush.
To blend the contrast of the two images and to make the back ground seem more natural I did the finish in a semi-gloss/peel texture. After getting the finish level I put a coat of Watco's on the clear and hit it with 2 coats of clear.
The back is all black.Jake insisted on having the Spiderman logo like one one of his shirts so I taped off an area, drew in the logo and removed all of the tape except the logo.I did a light fade of red from the center of the logo and cleared over it.The result is a barely visable red center with the Spiderman logo in the middle, but the red is so delicate it doesn't come screaming out at you.
It comfortable and fairly well balanced with a ton of volume.
as soon as I have the parts in I'll get some pics up.

Sounds like it looks pretty cool !! Having some fun with that air brush
How's that Watco stuff? Is it Nitrocellulose Lacquer or Acrylic lacquer?
I think they sell watco at my local Ace hareware, maybe even Home Depot.
I used Parks brand Nitro that I got from Ace ,And found it to be Waaaay to
soft for a guitar.

Sorry, the Watco's product I use is their finishing oil,(shoulda specified ),it was top coated with a sherwin williams acrylic laquer.
I like the cover that it gives and the clarity, but I'm dying to try the House of Kolor stuff.

Pics Pics Pics!
