Ok guys...I am looking for a new amp and while I have a lot of ideas for what I am looking for I though I'd do it like this...I gonna list specs and see what you guys think of!

-50 watt combo
-2 channels (or single channel with a good master volume design that would be pretty sensitive to playing dymanics and working the volume control on my guitars)
-good (this does not mean Fender, just good) cleans...I play clean quite a bit
-good crunch (this does not mean Marshall, just good)...no need for metal crunch but a good rock tone
-2x10 combo (this is a muct...there are several 2x12 and 4x10 amps I am looking at but I really want a 2x10)
-reverb would be a HUGE plus
-a vibe or trem circut would be another big plus

I am willing to spend a little cas on this but I would like to keep it down as much as possible...

Let the amps fly!

from : localhost/know you said a 2x10........ but.

hahaha i just have a thing for rivera, they do sound damn good, and it has REVERB!

Except for the lack of a master volume, I'd say a blackface Vibrolux Reverb and have it modded slightly. I modded mine. I put reverb and vibrato on both channels, and increased the overdrive capability by raising the value of the negative feedback resistor to decrease the amount of neg. feedback. I also changed the .1 and .047 tone caps to a pair of .02 caps and changed the treble disc cap to silver mica to give the amp more of the tone of a plexi Marshall or 59 Bassman. I also decreased the value of the two input resistors of one channel and, I think, increased the value of the grid load resistor to allow a single coil pickup to push the amp into overdrive more easily. And I changed the R/C network in the reverb recovery circuit to give more quot;gainquot;. I did quite a few things actually. There's alot more you can do to a blackface or silverface Fender to make them rock and still retain a great clean tone when you want it...all without adding a master volume control.

But that said: is there a Matchless 2 x10 with reverb that might give you what you want?

I've heard a lot of very good things about the new AC30CC. Pretty cheap for an AC30, I heard they moved production to China so they could cut production costs.

I'm pretty sure it's got tremolo and reverb (on both channels I think) but I could well be wrong on this one. Two channels, apparantly very strong cleans. I can't remember what they said about the drive channel but all the reviews I've read have been very glowing of the amp generally.

Although I don't think you can get a 2x10 version. Sorry.

Here's a link.

Also Mesa do the Blue Angel in a 2x10 config..... but sorry cant comment on the sound, maybe someone else here has had experience with this amp?

It's low budget compared to what most other people will recomend, but I think the Traynor YCV40 210 would be awesome for that. Stick in speakers of your choice and it's a great little amp.

What about finding the combo you like and fitting it for 2- 10quot; speakers?

Peavey classic 50? Just close the back of the cab if the crunch isn't deep enough.

If I were you, I'd focus all my attention on the Dr. Z line. You can order almost any of their amps in 2-10, and those are guaranteed to be tone monsters, especially if you really know what tube config. you want. Check out any clips they have on that site.

Part with some junk, and spend some real cash on a Dr. Z, and you can even get it with custom features, like a figured wood front panel.

You won't believe it. But, I was going to suggest Dr. Z's.
They looked great behind Brad Paisley on Conan last week

GJ is right.

Not sure if they come in a 2x10 combo, but you should try to track down a VHT Pitbull 45 or 50. The 45 is EL84 powered, quot;switchablequot; between class A (about 30 watts) and class A/B (45 watts). The 50 is similar but EL34 powered I believe. Killer amps that really don't get talked about much, but sound terriffic.

I don't know much abour Dr. Z stuff but i'll look into it, as for the VHT...I have been looking and there are n 2x10 VHT's that I know of, but a head and 2x10 cab are not out of the question...every time I play through a VHT I am blown away!

Here's a link to the VHT boards, different amps/cabs pop up for sale here from time to time.

from : localhost/fact, there are Pitbull 45 1x12 and 2x12 combos for sale there right now, $840 and $900, respectively.

Ask Luke about it the next time you talk to him. His is only 18W with no reverb, but he can probably give you the best review for that amp that you can find. He's pretty studied up on the other models, though I don't know how many he's actually played.

And count this as another vote for them. His sounds incredible, and I, personally, would check into their more powerful models if I was looking for something in that range.

I think this would be the ultimate. Not quite 50W, but I bet it's just as loud as the 50W Peaveys and Fenders.

Maybe a Fender Prosonic 2x10?? Know the clean is good. Have heard decent reviews of the crunch. Not too expensive either!!

Well it won't fit your 2x10 need, but the Rivera Chubster will do what ya want otherwise......and do it quite well....

Or grab a R series head...and an Avatar 2x10 cab or suttin?

Don't forget the Gibson Goldtone's either...RAWKIN amps...best EL84 amps I've had the pleasure of playing....I'm pretty sure they had a 2x10 combo...

Actually mine does have reverb I just run it real low like normally.

Quite honestly before you consider a Z you must quot;Un-learn what you have learnedquot;.

Wattage

Means nothing

Previous tone stack experience

Means nothing

They are much different beast than your run of the mill amps. They respond great to pedals....I know, I know, you don't use pedals but if you did.....

Every single person who has heard my amp will tell you it sounds nowhere near 18 watts.

The tone controls are very interactive, I'm discovering new shades of tone all the time.

I'll give you a more in depth review if you want it....or you could just call me.

Luke
