Compare the strats made by Fender and Gamp;L.
Thanks guys
There is simply no comparison. Gamp;L guitars are ALWAYS going to be better in any comparison to a fender. It's really a no brainer.
That really do depends on what feckin' Fender we are talking about

I agree to some degree. The G amp; L are probably always better built, with better parts, but that don't mean that's the guitar for you. I'd actually prefer the Fenders. They do the job just fine, and costs less (in Norway at least)
If you search, you can find a Gamp;L for a good price. They tend not to move as well as other brands since there's not quite the name recognition. I called a few shops when looking for my Gamp;L Asat Deluxe and got quotes ranging from $1800 to $2200. Called yet a few more and found the guitar I wanted for $1250...and thus it sits in my spare bedroom!
The nice thing I've found with Gamp;L's is any of thier models can come with a variety of neck shapes which you can order without any extra cost, I've owned strats but longed for a neck that's a little wider, a little fuller, flatter radius, medium jumbo frets - the Legacy Deluxe I have came exactly that way (#4 neck). Plus I ordered it with a solid mahogany body and a maple cap - again no extra charge.
both companies have models at different prices. That being said i would prefer a fedner american strat over a higher end G amp; L strat. Thats just me, i like to play the real deal and not copies, despite the high quality that G amp; L's offer.
I have owned both Gamp;L and Fender quot;Stratsquot; for years, lots of both, and while I love them both I would have to say that line for line, Gamp;L are the better made guitar. I have probably owned 15 or so Gamp;L's and never had a lemon and the majority were incredible. My experience Fenders on the other hand is that out of 10 you will probably find one or two that a re really nice, 5 or 6 that are ok, and the rest are crappola. I have owned at least 20 Fender Strats, all but two were USA made. One was an older Japanases quot;Contemporaryquot; that I just loved and for some strange reason just had the quot;mojoquot;, the other was an MIK that I bought for a friend to learn on. I set it up with some USA Delta-Tonequot; pickups and play it when I travel to NYC from time to time. It is a pretty decent guitar and I have gigged with it. Far and away though I have gigged and recorded with my Gamp;L Legacys over the past 13 years and my main guitar is still my first Gamp;L - a Fullerton Red '92 Legacy (#1 neck, rosewood board) that I bought new when I moved to FL in '92. It is THE benchmark that all other Strats are judged by - for me anyway
equipped of course - ssl2/ssl2/PG. My standard Strat setup.

Upon researching Gamp;L and owning one, to me it seems like the Gamp;L line is Fender improved. Leo had all these ideas how to make his originals even better.

He's right, Gamp;L is more Fender than Fender is. Fender is now just a company that was purchased from Leo many years ago. Gamp;L are the original founders of Fender, and Gamp;L designs are much updated and improved designs over the originals. It's ridiculous to call them copies. A copy made by the original builder that is far superior in quality?
Leo's gone, but his wife and George Fullerton are still alive. I'm sure after their deaths Gamp;L may start to slide the way Fender did.
In a nutshell, a Strat by G amp; L is most likely going to be a little better built than a Fender, but the G amp; L is not going to hold it's value like a Fender. That is the truth. Look at what used G amp; L's are going for vs. Fender's, and the Fender is going to get as much as 25% higher for equal guitars.

Who cares, unless you deal in guitars. If you are going to play the thing, there's no reason to choose a fender over a Gamp;L.

The Fender Strat was the original product, right? IMO the Gamp;L is a copy.
How are their tribute line? They seem to be one step ahead of the Squier in term of price, but how is the quality?
true both were founded by the same guy. But to me the fender just seems like the original. Its just my opinion. Maybe its just me, but the original styles seems to give me more mojo that copies or variations of the original if you will. NOt saying G amp; L are bad, because they are amazing axes, but my personal preference is to fender between the two.

Well, Fender was the original. The creator of that original them improved upon it.
The logic that the Gamp;L is a mere copy is reminiscent of the lawsuit against John Fogerty for plagiarizing his own tune.
It's all in your mind....
I think there is a language barrier with stringmachine.
Fender: founded by Leo Fender
Gamp;L: founded by Leo Fender
Leo designed both brands. Leo can't copy Leo.
If you want a REAL Fender, made the way it was intended, buy Gamp;L. IMHO.
If all you are concerned with is whether you can sell it later at a good price, buy Fender.
If you want a high quality guitar that will give you years of playing pleasure, buy Gamp;L.
Personally, I find that Fender and Gibson BOTH are resting on their laurels...although Fender at least makes some attempt at improving.
Bee, if you have a choice, go Gamp;L.
Anyways some day I hope to get myself a Gamp;L.

Well, I dont mean that Gamp;L are an inferior product. Just that the Fender strat was first, hence the Gamp;L line is but a copy, although a very good, if not superior, product.
