if i were to build a HH style guitar, would the following be possible: have it wired so that there are 4 on-on switches, each one wired to a particular coil, and each would activate/ deactivate each coil?
also, when all of the coils are on, the guitar would act just as a standard HH guitar (like a les paul)

shure that's possible to wire. I could even imagine a switch for out-of-phase (on-off-on) for each coil. You could combine them in parallel or serial - but you have to decide that when soldering it together...
would this set-up hinder the sound? or would it be just like if i wired it in the traditional way?
I Would Suggest A 5 Way Switch And Use A Push Pull Pot For Selecting In And Out Of Phase.... My Ignorant .02 Cents Chris
What you're describing is actually a bit more complex than meets the eye. In its simplest form, you'ld have both coils in parallel when both switches were on, rather than the quot;normalquot; series mode.
What might be better, (which is what I had at one time), is to use three DPDT switches. One thats on-on-on to select between either/or pickup.
And the other two on-off-on, to select between either coil/series mode for each pup.
Its much simpler than it sounds.
