Ok, here we go!
I've always been really crap at the twelve bar blues, especially on slower tracks! So, in attempt to remedy this I've been jamming along with a blues backing CD I got from a guitar magazine a while back.
For the most part I tried to keep it bluesy, but there are some faster licks dotted around nearer the end as I couldn't resist
The camera clipped as I was playing the backing too loud, so sorry about that... It also limits videos to three minutes but that's probably a good thing as I tend to run out of blues juice before the end of the backing track, or go off on a wannabe shred tangent (most of the music I listen to is metal).- Am I on the right track to recording a good blues solo? Any pointers?
I tried to start off with space between licks etc and eventually build things up, but I'm not sure if I got the balance right?
dude is there a type of music you CANT rock at
Killer! That's a great hollow sound from the neck pickup and nice sustain from those fingers. The metal fast riffs are very impressive but I like the slower stuff for the most part.. like at 1:40.
You are a star player bro
Your chops, tone and individual phrases are really good. Now focus on saying something. I feel a discontinuity from lick to lick. Of course, at 17 you are doing a great job. One exercise to help that is focus on say, a 12 or 24 bar section and make a solo for that. (Imagine a verse before leading in and a verse coming out) Playing for 3 minutes stright focused is a difficult thing to do. Listen to some of the masters like B.B., Albert, Buddy and Muddy, etc.
You are playing some smoking white boy blues right now.
I agree with PFDarkside. Awesome stuff you got there but something´s missing.
But man...you kick arse nevertheless. I couldn´t do it
WoW ! Being a older Bluesman I though I'd watch your clip and offer you
some advice on improving your playing... Well I think I learned something from
you. OUTSTANDING !! Some fella's seem to think there is something
missing in your playing? IDUNNO? The only thing I can see is the tourtured
Blues soul feel? But do your self a favor and DON'T be in any hurry to develop that. Your blues playing is legit enuff. Venting your emotoins thru your
Instrument goes over most people's heads anyway.
hey what pickups did you use
i still say you should play metalI can't get it... Is it still available..?

Yeah, I think I bit off more than I could chew... That's an exercise I used to do with my guitar teacher actually, I should probably get back into doing short solos
I've always found it hard judging how much or how little to play over a blues track like this which probably adds to the discontinuity
Here's the new link for those that missed it
