Hi I just bought a bass off of Ebay (ya i know bad idea) and it was listed as having quot;seymour duncan vintage jazz pickupsquot; in it. I opened the cavety and it has a 9V batter in it. Do the vintage series pickups come active? Seems odd if they do...how do I tell what pickups these really are. there is nothing written on the backs of them..or anything besides quot;basslinesquot; on the front.
Thanks,
-Jake
Could be a bass with active tone controls using passive pickups. That's not at all uncommon.
the compartment on my bass contains:
2 volume pot
1 tone pot
9 volt battery
input jack
1 yellow capacitor: 150-m 1uf 5% 250v 0013
the red wire from the batter splits into two red ones that are connected to the bigger wires going to the pickups.
the underside of the pickups appear to be copper, with only the labels quot;neckquot; and quot;bridgequot; on the respective pickups.
The face of the pickups have the traditional quot;basslinesquot; on the front, and dull steel poles with small rust fragments on them.
SOOOOOOOOOO, does anybody have a clue as to what pickups I have in my bass?
if its active it could be the lightning rods. they are an active basslines pup that looks like the vintage jazz bass pup
