Meh as you know I always put myself in weird situations... So I could either get a warmoth all maple neck and shim the neck pocket on the Charvel (it shouldn't be too hard) and the whole thing would cost me about 220 euros I think. Or I could get a fret dress done for 120 euros, then the neck would still need a relaquering and such... Count 170 at the least.
Something like this, from the showcase

I'm sorry Theodie but sending the whole guitar would be out of the question and more expensive, and should I just send the neck you'd have no way of trying it out... Thanks for everything though, you've helped me loads.
Actually while I'm at it. This forum is GREAT. We all fight and have our disagreements, but there are some really great people on there, always willing to help and give us young'uns chances. So there, an informal thank you to all those who helped each other on here, or wanted to, as well as to the whole team. If you ever need a marketing rep in the UK, I'm just studying this
Fret DRESS!
Well dressed frets on almost any decent neck will make the guitar feel like a CUSTOM SHOP instrument. Most of the time out of factories, frets will be leveled but not professionally dressed. You won't believe how well a dressed set of frets will play.
No, I do, I had it done on my other guitar but in Edinburgh the tech dressed them for 20 (yes, twenty) pounds and he made a GREAT job. I have super low action without any buzz. Well he didn't set up the guitar well at all, but the frets were well done
There's also the laquer problem and the fact that the Charvel neck is 16 years old. A Warmoth neck would look different, feel different but I guess will have more life in front of it.
one thing to keep in mind is that a new neck from Warmoth may need to be leveled as well. not always .. but it is something to keep in mind.
am I missing something? why would you need your current neck relacqured after a level and dress? is it already missing some finish?
Yeah, A LOT of it. And the fingerboard also seems to be lifting off Sorry for the size of the pictures...
Ahh .. I see .. ~gt; bummer!
Yeah, it's too bad I think I'll keep the neck though, or maybe sell/trade it. I'm not sure yet.
Neither, spend 1-200 € more than a new neck and have me teach you fret dressing and fretboard repair as a free side lesson (although a lifted fretboard is hardly anything serious... not good for playability but realatively easy to fix)
BTW, I´ll probably be in Frankfurt middle or end of next month, if we hang the Amsterdam journey on to that on either end (or maybe even in the middle, I can use a vacation) it becomes realistic becasue I´m not paying nearly as much train fare, may even find a cheap flight... assuming you´re still up there and not back in Edinburgh yet, of course....

Mhmm mid September eh? We were planning to go back to Edinburgh around the 9th of this month man sorry It's not sure yet, I'll tell you as soon as I know.
9th?? It´s already the 15th, bro
Sorry, by this month I meant September.
plus with a new warmoth neck, they usually need a fret finish too.
keep the origional neck.

Better to get a fret dress or new neck (for 100 euros more)?
