I have a single pickup LP Junior. I started off with a JB ,but found it a little thin (this suprised me). I now have a BBQ in there. I like it, but wonder if something a little hotter might be in order. How would you compare these two pups?
thanks
My opinion is that they are more different than alike. In terms of output, I hear the Custom as having a bit more output than the BBQ. It's also a much brighter pickup, with an increased high end as compared to the BBQ. I also find the BBQ to have more bass and midrange than the Custom. Personally, I don't like ceramic magnet pickups, they always sound too harsh for me.

I can't imagine needing more heat than the BBQ.....I find it to be a flame thrower of a pickup. It really isn't super hot but hjas such thick mids and fat bottom, with a huge punch that you wouldn't want it hotter. I can slam with this pickup.
I jmust got the crunchbox. Sounds alot like the BBQ but has a ceramic magnet and is almost as hot as the distortion but not as thin and peircing. Worth every penny
This is what a friend had to say about the BBQ and I agree:
quot;On the cleans, it has a nice, snarly spank to it. On
mildly overdriven settings, it has a hot blues vibe. On high gain it
stays nice and tight with good mids.quot;
