Okay guys, what are the technical differances between a humbucker and a p-90, how do they sound differant? and how do they work compared to a humbucker. I'm curious I tried to look it up on wikipedia but couldn't find it. Thanks.

A P90 is like a single coil on sterroids.

That really is the best description. Go here: from : localhost//support/soundbytes.shtml
and compare an SSL-1 strat pickup, '59 Humbucker and SP-90 Soapbar. The P90 is fat like a HB but has a little bite like the SC. It's a great pickup, I think that a P-90 guitar should be in everyone's arsenal.

a humbucker is exactly that while a p90 is a singlecoil unless its a stacked p90. hum is inherent in a true p90. tonally, i find p90s right in-between a singlecoil and humbucker exactly what pfdarkside stated.

i love the growling mids and clarity a p90 has as opposed to a singlecoil and humbucker respectively. that said, there's nothing a p90 with a tone knob can't do. slap them in some good tonewood and it may well be the most versatile guitar you will have.
