Bit of a pun, there. Yes, it's an all humcancelling Tele, but at the moment it's also truly silent: nothing is wired together and it has no strings. Still, not a bad looker, eh? No one has ever given a definitive answer as to what all that splotchiness is. It started about a year after I bought it (it started as a '96 Tex-Mex Tele Special; I bought it in '98) and steadily progressed to its current condition over the next four years or so. Haven't seen any change since 2003 or thereabouts.
I really did not need to see this....
Looks really great. When you get her all quot;hookedquot; up, let us know how she sounds. Better yet, post some clips. BTW, what do you have in there? It looks like a Vintage Stack in the bridge, and Duckbucker in the middle and a Vintage Rails in the neck.
Very pretty. You don't see many 3-pup teles, let alone 3 hum-cancelling pups. Very cool.
That quot;splotchinessquot; actually looks pretty sweet if you ask me.
I'm very curious myself, but I'm so enamoured of my '51 at the moment (so far, she's inspired three new songs -- all either rockabilly or early Ramp;Rish) that I'm almost afraid to get the Tele operational again for fear that I'll feel guilty about whichever one I'm not playing as much.
Crazy, I know..
Plus, the wiring scheme for this one that Artie made for me is hellaciously daunting for an electronic neophyte like me. I'm gonna need a solid day of no other distractions...
:
That is the coolest thing I have seen all week. Hook 'er up and put some strings on that bad boy! You are making me jealous ... the least you could do is play the damn thing!
btw. what do you have in the bridge?
Man, what a cool guitar!
At least the 51 probably has a bigger electronics cavity, the one in my V is 1quot; wide and like 4quot; long...you have to take everything out to wire it up...such a pain, and I'VE DONE IT THREE TIMES already ... sheesh...and I'll need to do it again when I get a new swich...and once more for when I get new pickups, sooooooo lame.
The bridge is a Tele Lead Vintage Stack. The middle pup is a bridge position Duckbucker and the neck is a neck Vintage Rails.

That's what I thought....
I've already had to expand the Tele's cavity (to allow for the Superswitch and the mini toggle) and will probably have to again once I'm trying to cram 8 miles of wire in there too.Originally Posted by D-EJ915At least the 51 probably has a bigger electronics cavity, the one in my V is 1quot; wide and like 4quot; long...you have to take everything out to wire it up...such a pain, and I'VE DONE IT THREE TIMES already ... sheesh...and I'll need to do it again when I get a new swich...and once more for when I get new pickups, sooooooo lame.
Dude I love that! I'm really itchin to pop a middle pickup in my tele, but whats holding me back is 1) the cost of an extra pickup and special cut gaurd, and 2) the fact I'd have to route a hole in my tele... NOT looking forward to that!
Nice
I have the Deluxe Nashville Tele, so that one appeals a lot
I took it to a tech whom I've used for the past couple of years. I used to work with him and he normally does good work...but not this time. His routing looked no better than what I could accomplish with my dremel freehand. and he didn't route deep enough, so I ended up having to redo the whole thing anyway. Having done that now, I'm much less frightened of the whole routing thing. I look forward to what I'm going to do to my '91 Peavey Fury...
As for the cost of the pickup itself, buy used! I had to buy the Vintage Stack new, but the Duckbucker and Vintage Rails only cost me about $25 apiece.

1) The beauty of the MIM guitars - theat swimming pool route makes the modder's life so simple.
2) I have a slightly used brown tortoise-shell pickguard from my MIM Nashville that I can sell you cheap. Routed strat middle/tele neck. PM me if you're interested.Originally Posted by Hosslooks killer man...reminds me of a tele i used to have!
