hi everyone, i'm thinking about buying a epiphone sheraton II, but i want to put it seymnour humbuckers, a jazz model and a jb. i don't know a lot about pick ups so i have a question: the guitar have humbuckers w/ cover plates, so i don't know if i can replace the original picks by the seymour ones. can i keep the cover plates with the new pick ups?? or i must leave them and use the picks without the covers?? ( i hate that idea, the guitar would look rare)
well, thanks 4 your time and answers.

1. you can buy pickups with covers on them. it will cost you a little more but they are wax potted to reduce feedback.
2. great choice on the combo. think incubus tone on 'morning view'. the epiphone will sound great with new pups

that guitar, as far as i own, has mini humbuckers which means, obviosly, wouldnt fit a jb or jazz. By the way output that high in that guitar would feedback like a mother f@cker

The earlier Sheraton had miniis. The Sheraton II has full Humbuckers, Like the Dot. The Riviera has minis and the Casino has P-90s. However the MIJ Riviera (1971-83) has open coil humbuckers. Gets confusing.

Anyways, you should be able to install full sizec HB. I was thinking on putting CC and Jazz on my MIJ Riviera.

the Sheraton II does fit normal humbuckers. I've had Seth's and Phat Cats in mine with great results.Originally Posted by fusion101

I use my Sheraton with Phats for hard rock and had good results using it for the same styles with Seth's, which are unpotted (JB/Jazz are fully potted).

To answer the original question, yes, you can get the Jazz and the JB with covers. for a semi-hollow guitar, I wouldn't get those. I would go with a Seth Lover set, 59 set, APH set, or Pearly Gates set.

1 for the quot;No JBquot; thing. Get lower output pups in a semi, like what I did I quite fancy a Riviers with mini hummers....

i beleive the jb could work fine if it wasn't used for heavy distortion (semi- hollows usually aren't b/c they do have some feedback). Could be too much though as the guy from incubus used a PRS hollowbody so the sheraton will be a different beast. a 59' set or a jazz set would probably be better

Yeah, they don't do metal too well, but you can still whack up the gain - Blink 183, Green Day, Oasis and the Foo Fighters have all featured 335s.

I had a Sheraton II amp; put Gibson '57 Classic/Classic Plus in it, but that was before I found this Forum.

The '57s sounded great, but I would say Seths, '59s or Phat Cats would be SWEET in a Sheraton.
