After receiving my Jerry Donahue/AlnicoII Pro pickups (Thanks for the fast shipment Black Rose Customs), I must admit the SDs are a marked improvement over the stock Fender vintage noiseless. The Fenders were not bad, mind you, its just that the SDs had more power and sustain minus some of the extreme brightness in the stock bridge pickup.
However, upon taking the pickup cover off, I noticed that my 03 American Deluxe Tele had a factory routed neck humbucker sized hole as well as mid-position single coil hole.
It looks like the possibilities are great for a guy and his toys.

Well Georgeatt, let's hope you'll actually be happy with these pickups and not decide that they should've come with a $100 cheque to you with a memo quot;To appease the fuhrerquot;
When I read the title of the post quot;JD amp; AlnicoII pupsquot; I thought you misspelled JB. But what the hell is the Jerry Donahue pickup.

Theodie and Metalman666: You guys make me feel all warm, fuzzy, and welcome in this forum - kind of like a heathen in a Southern Babtist convention.
Don't worry about it, there are three trillion other people who use the board.

In my opinion a 59' in the neck (like Albert Collins) would be great!!
Well, you did have a bit of a rocky start here, but I'm very happy that you got what you needed out of Blackrose. I have ordered from them before and just ordered some Tone Pros from them for the new Les Paul. I am confused a bit. It used to be just John. Now I'm dealing with a guy named Kevin. Does anyone know if this is John's son or something? I met John at NAMM this year, but I didn't meet Kevin. Just being curious I guess.
I think it's cool that 03 Tele has those routes. You've got a great platform to work with. You could actually buy different pickguards and just load them up with pots and pups. Then when you grew semi-tired of one tone, just unsolder the output wires and drop the new pickguard into place.
How's that for plug and play? Heck, you could even put in some quick disconnects for the output wires. That'd be cool.

Scott, I've dealt with Kevin the last two times I've ordered (when I sent back my JB, and then when I got my strat pups) and he is very helpful. He is mainly an accoustic player he admitted once but called somebody at SD to make sure he was giving me a good recommendation.
Georgeatt, glad you like your pups!

LOL well lets forget what allhas happned. glad u got ur pickup. How does it sound? Well and since ur tele has neck route , why not load that with a 59 or an Alnico II pro? I gues a 59 wld sound great with it
If you ever decide to fill that HB neck slot, I can heartily recommend a SD Phat Cat neck pickup -- great P90 tone that mates extremely well with the JD Tele lead.
Have fun!

Scott,
I think John introduced Kevin to the forum a while ago, and said Kevin would help with the ordering, and John was going to focus more on his custom instruments.
Kevin has made a few posts here, too.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have to wait for a little bit: if I buy one more thing for my guitar my wife will kill me. I usually give her a two month cooling off period in between purchases.
As far as kevin at Black Rose Customs is concerned, he seems like he is on top of things. I emailed him for a price quote on a Sunday night, not expecting to hear from him until a few days later. I got a reply about an hour later.

LOL I can understand that. I really blew the lid of my folks when the JB arrived.I have got to wait a little bit too until I can make my next purchase.
