Recorded Jimi's Hey Joe today with a Guitar Pro backing from MySongBook.com.
from : localhost/tried to get a decent recorded sound that is similiar to what I hear for two days now, and in the same time tried to practice to play tighter...this one isn't near dead on tight at all though.
Took three takes, anyways it turned out quite well soundwise and is the best recording so far with my non-decent mic
Feel free to comment!
It was alright, but a lot of the strums werent on the beat. You played pretty much all the right notes, you just need to work on the timing and phrasing
yeah I know...it sucks when having played alot on your own without any other instruments, because that doesn't really improve my timing and phrasing.
Any suggestions on how to improve these things? a metronome of course and then just record what I play with backings to get better timing...is that it?
btw. hmm... that very ugly guy there in your avatar scares me hope it's not you in real! Thanks for your comment
How can i get that backing track?
Felipe, you have to have the program quot;Guitar Proquot; and then you can download guitar pro files from for example from : localhost/Export the track from Guitar Pro to a midi file and then use whatever program to record your guitar sound in.
..I'm really gonna try to dig in and practice timing now to get everything tighter, would be much more fun if I'd get those things to work without hazzle!

Just jam with backings a lot and practice getting everything on the beat. You could also have a metronome ticking at around 60-80bpm while strumming some chords and practice getting them right on the click.
Yes, that's me in my avatar
not too bad man...i think some time spent playing live with a drummer and bass player will improve all of your timing stuff...the sound quality was pretty good...keep it up!
I enjoyed it! As for working on timing and phrasing, i also have a bit of that problem. One of the best ways to solve it if you cannot play with other musicians is to play lots with backing tracks, it certainly helps!
Good stuff, keep rockin' amigo!
Kev
Not bad man..better as you went on, a little choppy playing tho. It seems you were thinking to hard when you were playing this (I know this sounds weird)...but just feel it out...without thinking of what you have to do all the time, it gets you all worked up and leads to more mistakes.
Good for some one whoo has been learning and trying to play guitar for about a year.
That you right?
Actually, you missed a lot of notes and made quite a few mistakes.
Keep Practicing at least one hour a day, you'll get better!
Stratman...That's not me, you think about...that's another guy. Don't remeber who but I know who you mean.
It's out of beat, that's what I'm practicing on right know..both with backings and metro so hopefully it will improve the timing. Beside that I just thought about the thing that I never try to replicate anything exactly note by note. And with that follows a question of course ...do you guys try to learn every note perfect when playing a cover, in other words try to exactly replicate the original? I never found, learing stuff note by note without any improvising and own interpretation, interesting and inspiring.
Hey Joe sounds great an any speed. I thought it sounded nice - good work. The rest will come in time.
Thanks JM! I hope the rest will come in time

I never cover a song note for note. I often learn it note for note, but when I play it, I always improvise some parts or throw in some of my own licks here and there.
