from : localhost/anyone familiar with these? Can anyone give me a review pos and negs about the amp?
Now I'm not out to copy the Queen sound but I think this will give me what I want.
I dont use to many tone. Clean Sound, Light-Medium Gain Rhythm Sound, Big Muff for solos. Then a combonations of my pickups for slightly different sounds.
When I have time to actully fire up an amp to record as to not bother anyone I generally use that time to record vocals so I am not interupted and I don't bother anyone. Most of my free time is late at night so I have moved to a direct method. This amp needs to beable to record extreamly usable guitar Light-Medium Gain guitar rhythm tones. I am NOT look to copy Queen's sound or to fake a Marshal Plexi or a Fender Twin ect. I just want to beable to record familiar sound that are very usable. I borrowed my little brothers Marshal MG and spent the day experimenting with it recording direct and it was the worst piece of crap I have ever heard.
The POD's do look very impressive but they are too much power for my needs. I wont use 99.9% of what is in those so it seems like a waste of money to me. Also I would like to keep it in an amp form so I can take it anyware and jam ect.
I would prefer the amp to be simple the less controls the better. The Marshall MG10cd would be the perfect setup. Clean, Distortion, Tone, Direct recording possibility, headphones. The only problem is that the tone is aweful! So this little Vox looks like a good choice provided the sound is there.
Anyone have any info? I hope I am not asking to much. One trick pony is fine with me aslong as its a good trick.
Thanks,
edm
Guitar Player reviewed that Vox a few years ago when it came out. If I remember, they did say it was a bit of a one-trick, but sounded good. Different, but good.
You might want to look up the back issue to get the details, as it's been a while.
Played it and it sucked. Bad.
Man that sound clip on the site is enough to turn me off that little buzz box for good! If thats how it sounds after recording and processing to make it sound as good as possible for the site, then id hate to hear it in person!
Holy crap... I finally got to listen to the recording. That doesn't sound anything like I thought. Deffinatly doesnt sound like Queen. I might give the MG another shot. I guess I was asking to much. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hey Eric; One thing to keep in mind, regarding the quot;podquot; idea, I have a Johnson J-Station and I don't use all those controls for quot;differentquot; sounds as much as I use them to find that one perfect sound. The same can be done with a Pod. Up until about a week ago, it always stayed on one setting. More like an accessory to my mixing board than an amp modeller.
You don't have to use all the controls.
Just a thought.

I see the usefulness of them but for me it would be like killing a fly with a nuke. Way to much power for what I need and it's not in amp form for the price I want to pay. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep looking.
Vox missed the boat with this one- May's real deacy is used to overdrive his ac30 and by itself quot;that little buzz boxquot; as someone else put it, has practically no value- if nothing else they should have aimed for as close to mays final sound as possible-
Ive been surpirsed at vox on all points recently- went to look at their little modeling combo and was extrmely diapointed with ac30 and blackface models- my little magic stop does the blackface very well-
Guess they are just having trouble geeping up with market research and Ramp;D- Not inexpensive steps that get skipped far too often-
